Prof. Patrick Plunkett

Patrick F. Plunkett, vice provost for distributed learning and international initiatives, is responsible for advocating and coordinating e-learning policies and procedures for Northeastern University. In this role he has led the establishment of a Division of Distributed Learning and served as chair of the University's Teaching and Learning with Technology Roundtable. He also advises the provost on articulating Northeastern's global agenda, served as chair of the International Education Taskforce, provides administrative oversight for the University's satellite campus and programming in Tel Aviv, Israel, and is the lead negotiator for establishing a collaborative undergraduate business administration program in Tianjin, PRC.

Prior to his current appointment, Plunkett served two year as the acting dean of the Bouve College of Health Sciences. He led the college through a period of transformational change by integrating 137 full-time faculty, 38 academic programs and five research centers formerly housed in two separate colleges into one college. Before becoming acting dean, Plunkett served for nine years as the associate dean for academic affairs in the Bouve College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Plunkett's scholarly interests have focused in three areas: examining the impact of external factors on the evolution of health professional education; curricular innovation; and the adaptation of computational strategies to predict post-surgical outcomes. He has authored 30 publications including, articles, editorials and book chapters, and has had his work published in the Journal of Extra-Corporeal Technology, The Proceedings of the American Academy of Cardiovascular Perfusion, Perfusion, and Respiratory Care.

Plunkett received an A.B. in biology from Saint Anselm's College, an M.S. in physiology from Rivier College, and an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Northeastern University. He also completed the Management Development Program at Harvard University.
